Mostly we need volunteers to marshall! Marshalls will be positioned along the route to direct runners, shout words of encouragement and deal with any issues. Marshalls have walkie talkies, hi vis jackets and we have a first responder at each event.
We also need volunteers to help with setting up events - sign posting the route, setting up cordons, setting up the start point, sign runners in, hand out medals and water at the end.
Anything you can do is appreciated - whether it's an hour setting up some signs or a whole day setting the route and marshalling!
About our club
Light up events aim to inspire people to participate in unique and fun health and fitness related events, whilst raising funds for charities! A lot of events are run at night with glowsticks, flashing lights, fairy lights, bright colours... with the aim to light up the event wherever that may be! Other runs have included heroes and villains fancy dress (where marshalls get to soak runners with water guns) and colour splash runs (where marshalls get to throw paint at runners).
We run events in Cardiff and the South Wales area including Mumbles and Llanelli.
We are always on the look out for volunteers to marshall and/or help set up at our events. You can never have too many!
