Chelmsford Hockey Club

Beehive Lane,

7 Yes Volunteers needed

With the club the size of ours we always need volunteers!
Sponsorship Manager: we desperately need someone to help us get sponsorship for our club. We have lots of things that would be of interest to potential sponsors but we need someone with the skills and time to dedicate to this valuable job!

Bar Manager: We are currently specifically looking for someone to manage our bar from September to end March. This doesn't necessarily always involve working behind it (although this is sometimes helpful) but it involves cleaning it once a week, ordering stock and managing the rota of club members to open and close it on a Saturday and occasionally Sunday.

Tournament organisers: We hold several tournaments at the club throughout the year and we are always looking for people to help manage these events by marshalling people, helping out in the car park, selling teas and coffees etc.

We have multiple other opportunities from helping to coach, umpiring, catering, helping the treasurer and running social events, so whatever your interest we probably have a job for you!

About our club

With over 150 regular playing members (aged from 6 to 80!) we have 7 Ladies teams, 6 Mens teams, Veterans teams, a Mixed side and a thriving Junior section. Our Ladies 1st XI competes in the England Hockey League Conference East Division with the other Ladies XI's playing in the East and Essex Leagues. Our Men's 1st X1 play in East Premier A with our remaining Men's teams playing in the East Leagues. We have great facilities including our own pitch and changing rooms and a clubhouse that we share with Chelmsford Cricket Club.
In the winter we have training sessions every evening, except Friday, and matches on Saturday and Sunday. In the summer we run a less formal men's Summer league whilst ladies teams compete in leagues at other clubs. We also offer back2hockey sessions to attract former players and beginner adults to the game. In terms of attracting children into hockey we have a strong outreach programme of delivering hockey in schools and we also operate a satellite club where local schools use our pitch to practise after school.
We have top quality coaches headed up by Glenn Kirkham, a double Olympian and former GB captain, who is our Director of Coaching.
We are a family friendly and sociable club with social events throughout our season. New members are always welcome.
