20+ Yes Volunteers needed

We would welcome helpers for athletics meetings as well as the administration of the club generally.

At athletics meetings we host, for example: preparing for and organising the meetings, registering athletes, welcoming and looking after officials, providing and/or serving food and refreshments, selling kit, helping in the office with results or the general management of the meeting, or as officials/helpers on the track or field - it all helps tremendously on the day. For other meetings we compete in, we need team managers, officials/helpers, and mini bus drivers for events outside London.

There are UK Athletics courses available should you wish to become qualified coaches or officials.

Within the club itself we need extra help with coaching, membership secretary duties, welcoming new members/parents, kit secretary to sell/stock take/order kit, fundraising, reporters and photographers, organising social events and co-ordinating contributions for the website/social media, and enabling us to use modern technology generally e.g. social media and online registration for our Open Meetings.

About our club

Herne Hill Harriers is a community amateur sports club and we pride ourselves on being a family club catering for all standards, welcoming athletes of all ages from 11 upwards. We offer coaching, training and competitions in all track and field events, road running, cross-country, indoor athletics and sports hall.

We have well established teams contesting the major local leagues and championships and the club's vests of red and black hoops are regularly seen in the London Marathon as well as at numerous local road races. A number of club members compete at the highest level – long jumper Jade Johnson has represented Great Britain in a number of major championships, including the Olympic Games, and won silver medals in the European Championships and Commonwealth Games.

The club has a plethora of highly talented youngsters, some of whom regularly break club age-group records, and a number of these young starlets have won medals in various national competitions. The club is also blessed with a number of very talented veteran athletes, some of whom have won medals at national and international level.

The club is run by volunteers and the executive committee meets monthly and we organise numerous social events to celebrate our achievements. For more information, please visit our website: www.hernehillharriers.org
