Mini Mermaid and Young Tritons UK
Main club details
6 Yes Volunteers needed
Volunteers will be working in pairs to deliver either a Mini Mermaid (girls) or a Young Triton (boys) programme in schools.
Each programme is 6 weeks long, meeting twice a week. You will be taking the children through a combination of discussions, journal work and physical activity. At the end of the programme, the children will take part in a 5km challenge, using all the tools that they have learnt over the programmes to help them complete it. They each receive a medal and certificate at the end of the 5km.
The physical activity is not about how far or fast they can run but really introducing physical activity and how it positively effects their thoughts and feelings. We want it to become a normal part of their everyday lives. Each coach will receive a curriculum to work from with all the sessions written out for them, training and support from their local Mini Mermaid ambassador. You do not have to be a runner to be a coach, if you have previous experience working with children then that is a bonus. We provide online, group and safeguarding training along with the enhanced DBS check application.
