20+ Yes Volunteers needed
Events take place across the country at various times so there is no regular committment on a weekly/monthly basis . We need people to operate checkpoints and record the numbers of passing competitors. They will then have to pass those details via two-way radio to a control point which may be some miles away. In the event of an emergency situation occurring near to the checkpoint, operators will need to act calmly and use the radio to summon assistance. NO EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED AS WE WILL PROVIDE EVERYTHING. Experience of radio is not essential although those who have operated radios either in connection with their work or military/emergency service will have some advantage. Some events take place over more than one day and it is usually possible to camp/caravan overnight if required.
About our club
We are actually a volunteer radio communications group rather than a sports club but we are heavily involved in providing communications and timekeeping services to various branches of Endurance GB to assist them with their running of endurance equestrian events. This activity currently comprises the vast majority of our work in the UK, ( although we have covered marathons, cycle events and other non-sports related occasions in the past). We are also available to assist the authorities in times of civil disasters such as flooding. NO EXPERIENCE OR RADIO EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED AS WE CAN PROVIDE EVERYTHING. The time our volunteers give us is their most valuable asset! We are a National organisation and so we require volunteers across the country.
